Our client, a growing company in the packaging, supply chain, and industrial distribution space, is seeking a highly capable Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing strategy, strengthen supplier partnerships, and support business growth.

Reporting directly to the President, this role will oversee day-to-day purchasing operations, vendor management, sourcing strategy, and purchasing team support across a broad portfolio of packaging and distribution-related products.

This is an excellent opportunity for a purchasing leader who enjoys negotiating strategically, building strong supplier relationships, improving processes, and partnering across teams to drive results.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business goals
  • Lead daily purchasing operations and support the purchasing team
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, lead times, freight terms, and order minimums
  • Communicate cost changes proactively to Sales and Customer Service
  • Identify, research, and qualify new suppliers
  • Partner with inventory control and supply chain teams to manage purchasing and inventory needs
  • Manage supplier records, purchasing documentation, and internal updates
  • Oversee purchasing budgets and cost estimates
  • Continuously improve purchasing systems, tools, and processes
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to support sourcing, quality, and delivery goals
  • Manage vendor contracts and supplier performance issues
  • Maintain product samples for sales teams as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Packaging, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar procurement leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of packaging, manufacturing, industrial distribution, or related supply markets
  • Experience managing supplier relationships, contracts, and inventory requirements
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accountability
  • Experience with procurement systems and data tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, and Microsoft Office preferred
